Third Thursday - Urban Technology Testbed

Join us for Third Thursday on March 21st for the launch of our Urban Technology Testbed, to hear from some of the industry’s most innovative companies as well as city representatives who will share their insights and experiences of testbed environments they’ve worked on. We will also be sharing opportunities for developing, testing and showcasing your products across three settings the building, city and virtual environment.

Read more about the project here.

As urban populations grow and demand for services puts complex pressures on cities, there’s an increased focus on technologies playing a role in making urban environments healthier and cleaner, ultimately improving the health and wellbeing for citizens.

The best products and services tend to come from an iterative testing approach in real-life environments. This could be a public space like a street, a closed environment such as a building, or even in a virtual setting. We started this program – which will both make it easier to access these test environments and reduce the risk for cities and building owners of testing new technologies – by opening up our own Urban Innovation Centre (UIC) to become a living testbed, monitoring air quality, temperature,  light, energy and most importantly comfort.
