Darren Jones MP invites you to a networking reception in preparation for the launch of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Connected Places.
Places thrive on their ability to connect people – to resources, opportunities and to each other. As emerging technologies enable even greater levels of connectivity, innovative businesses and pioneering place leaders are working together on harnessing tech to boost local productivity and wellbeing, attract talent and improve access to economic opportunities.
This new All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) will explore and demonstrate how new technologies and approaches can improve the way the UK’s cities, towns and regions work for citizens and businesses – and the opportunities for UK firms to scale those solutions to meet global demand. It will work to enable the adoption of such products and services by helping the sector to coordinate efforts to dismantle market barriers and build collaborations across traditional services and silos.
This event will give industry an opportunity to engage with the Chair of the new group and influence its programme in this formative stage. We would particularly welcome the engagement of businesses large and small with innovations that enable places to enjoy new levels of physical, digital and social connectedness.
The secretariat for the new APPG will be provided by The Connected Places Catapult, the new Catapult formed from the unification of the Future Cities and Transport Systems Catapults.
