Innovation Location Analysis

For: cities and businesses

In hundreds of cities around the world buildings and districts are being designated future centres of innovation. Many of these locations thrive but many also fail to fulfil their promises. Why does innovation flourish in some places but fizzle out in others?

We’ve developed a methodology to help maximise innovation location success. We can apply this methodology to your unique context and devise a plan to establish and nurture an innovation location that will go on to thrive.

How it works

We’ll identify and analyse 12 fundamental drivers across your location, including:

  • Business competitiveness
  • Market proximity
  • Investor appetite
  • Institutional knowledge

We’ll also identify and analyse 20 attributes that contribute to creating an ecosystem, including:

  • Infrastructure
  • Skills
  • Business environment
  • Investment framework

Case study: establishing Sharjah as an innovation location

Future Cities Catapult is working with the American University of Sharjah Enterprises, sponsored by His Highness Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi, to establish a world class innovation centre: the new Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park (SRTI).

The aim is to help Sharjah distinguish itself as a unique research, entrepreneurship and industry innovation leader in a regional and global economy, with UK businesses helping to deliver that vision.

Flourish, don’t fizzle out

In a competitive global environment the odds are stacked against ill-prepared innovation location initiatives. If you want your innovation location to be a serious global contender and flourish rather than fizzle out, we can help you lay the foundations for success.
