Cities around the world are creating and deploying smart city strategies. It is time to take stock and review what is happening worldwide. Future Cities Catapult is striving to shed light on what smart city strategies mean in practice, and how they differ across the world.
Our global research programme is conducting interviews and research through investigating twenty cities from vastly different geographies and societies. Our ambition is to look under the skin of the smart city narrative in these cities, to understand how cities are making progress on the ground, and how their context affects the steps they need to take.
We have conducted three innovative and collaborative events that has brought together stakeholders from around the world who are interested in implementing the Smart City strategy on a global scale. These are the Smart City Expo, Smart Energy London and Smart IoT London.
We are currently finalising our initial findings which will culminate in our first report on Smart City strategies being published Summer 2017.
