Third Thursday - Urban Design and Mental Health: Lessons from Hong Kong and Tokyo

Hear from a world-leading expert, Dr Layla McCay, Director of the Centre for Urban Design and Mental Health, a global think tank that explores how architects, planners and other city-makers can build better public mental health into cities.

Dr McCay holds academic positions at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (UK), Tokyo Medical and Dental University (Japan), and Georgetown University (US) and is Managing Editor of the Journal of Urban Design and Mental Health.

She has recently returned from Asia to the United Kingdom after several years in Tokyo and Hong Kong, bringing with her a wealth of experience and ideas.

She will be discussing the opportunities that urban design can offer in improving public mental health and what lessons she has personally learnt about designing Asia’s mega-cities for better mental health.

Our focus will be the mental, physical and social aspects of cities and their impacts on people.

Complimentary drinks and canapes will be provided.
