OASC’s annual Connected Smart Cities Conference (CSCC) will be taking place next Thursday 11 January 2018 in Brussels, Belgium. The conference brings together representatives of cities, international institutions, academia and industry to discuss this year’s theme ‘Cities Driving the Digital Transition’.
Jarmo Eskelinen, Chief Innovation and Technology Officer at Future Cities Catapult will be discussing during the Closing Plenary Session from 16.00 to 17.00. A complete agenda is available at this link.
Gemma Guilera, SME Programme Lead at Future Cities Catapult will be co-chairing one of the Conference parallel sessions ‘IoT-Enabled Smart Cities Market Creation: Policy Issues and Open Calls session‘.
The evolving Smart City market has been the focus of extensive discussions. However, there is a recognition that the implementation of smart city strategies has been harder than expected because of the complexity of city ecosystems, the relationship between them and underlying policies. During this session we will address the translation of smart city ambitions into market creation by concrete actions via various instruments, including open calls and living labs, and their implication into the commercialisation cycle of sustainable city and citizen centric solutions.
We will also discuss how local, national and international policies are evolving to enable innovation in cities to happen.
