What will you be doing?

You will play a key role in stakeholder engagement across the organisation through supporting the development and execution of a strategic communications plan. You will act as a communication expert across the organisation, developing strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to support our core mission of growing businesses.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of a strategic Communications Plan for the Catapult. • Develop and execute PR and social media plans. • Creation of press releases, articles, blogs and social media posts. • Provide input into thought leadership programmes as required. • Support activities around corporate reputation and crisis communications as needed. • Develop strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including project partners. • Develop relationships with key journalists. • Work as part of the wide network of Catapult communications experts. • Undertake measurement of activities to ensure objectives are being met.

Skills & Experience

Graduate with at least 5 years’ experience working in PR / media relations and /or corporate communications either in-house or agency. Strong B2B skills are essential, as are top-notch social media skills. Experience developing and managing relationships with senior individuals within a complex business. Proven experience of creating communications plans which deliver against objectives. Excellent written and oral communication skills. The ability to take often complex concepts and make them compelling for external audiences. Experience of, or interest in, the issues around the smart cities agenda, business support, the current business landscape and political process is essential. Professionalism, resilience and self-awareness. Acting in a professional manner and showing determination, drive and commitment at all times and particularly when faced with challenges and setbacks. A confident self-starter, able to function independently and on their own initiative in a fast-paced environment. Experience of promoting events and an understanding of business support, and growth or government communications / public affairs would be desirable.
