As part of our commitment to further develop our public and private sector partnerships in China, Future Cities Catapult’s Peter Young is now based in Beijing.
China is experiencing some of the most rapid urbanisation in the world, and the various opportunities and issues that come with it. This makes it one of the most significant economies within the growing Advanced Urban Services market, and an ideal destination for firms looking to implement and scale smart solutions that address challenges from pollution to public transport.
In order to nourish both existing and new commercial partnerships with Chinese authorities and businesses, our representative Peter Young will be based in the country and working predominantly from Beijing.
One of Peter’s first in-country activities will be to oversee a delegation of five experts from Future Cities Catapult. They will take part in a week-long engagement programme visiting three cities; Beijing, Yinchuan and Shanghai. Their aim is to generate project leads through Chinese stakeholder engagement, raise the profile of the UK Advanced Urban Services sector through public engagements, and refine the Catapult’s country strategy.
Before joining the Catapult in June this year, Peter worked for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office at both the British Embassy in Beijing and the Consulate General in Wuhan, focusing on climate change and urbanisation.
